I know that quite a few of our clients, friend and family have accepted the fact that they need some type of web protection. Whether it comes from us, here on our site. Or from a competitor, we all know you need something in place.
Our clients have been noticing that there have been more and more sites being blocked for no apparent reason.
I am here to tell you, there is a reason. There are some major updates being made to our MAD Web Protection Software. Because of all of the new threats out there, we are noticing some false positives.
False positives are exactly what they sound like
A false positive is a mistake that happens occasionally — the antivirus thinks a download is harmful when it’s actually safe. But malicious people may try to trick you into downloading malware with this assurance
Because of these false positives, I have been asked to disable our web protection because it is annoying that sites are being blocked.
I wanted to test this on my system and see what happened when I start disabling our protection service.
Went out to dinner with my family and had my browser closed and email program closed, therefor nothing should have prompted this message
Please keep in mind, Firefox is my primary browser, but the file that attempted to download is not from Mozilla! Sure looks convincing doesn’t it?
This would not have happened if my MAD Web Protection was enabled.
